Follow Friday and TGIF!

Friday's meme day in the blogosphere, and I love getting to visit with new and old people every week to see their answers to the questions posed.
TGIF is a weekly feature created and hosted by GReads!
This week at Books and Threads
Sunday: In My Mailbox
Thursday: Literary Adventures

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan
Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien
Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
Spoiled by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

Show & Tell: Where do you grab a book and get lost in it? Show us your favorite spot you like to read at.

I really should have looked at this question before it was dark and rainy outside because my favourite reading place is on the porch or down the road on the beach!  I live in a really small space so most of what I do is on my bed.  It's my reading spot, but also my computer spot and watching Netflix spot and everything else.

So that's my bed complete with books, Kindle and my kitty Chavez.  She's not nearly as huge as that shadow there makes her look, but she's pretty big, yeah.  She also hates me reading, typing, or doing anything that involves 'not petting her.'

Also, yes, that's a baseball bat between the side table and the bed.  Don't you guys keep weapons against monsters near by at all times?

Follow My Book Blog Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read to feature a different blogger every week and let all of us stop by to say hi!

This week's featured blogger is Sophie at Life Between Pages.

Q.If you could have characters from a particular book meet and form an epic storyline with characters from a particular TV series, which would you choose and why?'s a terrible answer, I know, but I want the Scooby Gang from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to meet the Cullen family from Twilight.

On a less obvious note, how about Kat and her friends from Heist Society hanging out with the crew of Serenity from Firefly?  I think Kat could give Mal and his crew a few tips on successful stealing!

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy for Books that allows us to connect with and support other book bloggers who love books just as much as we do!

Book Blogger Hop

“What is your favorite spooky book (i.e. mystery/suspense, thriller, ghost story, etc.)?”

Well, the most recent ghost story that I absolutely loved is Maureen Johnson's The Name of the Star.  Spookiness and hilarity.  What could be bad?

My other two favourite spooky books are ones I mention all the dang time so I feel badly, but hey, people should read and know about them!  So they are Pamela Dean's Tam Lin and Mira Grant's Feed.  They're completely different types of creepyness.  Tam Lin is all about faeries and Halloween! and seeing what you shouldn't and trying to deal with the supernatural while Feed is a zombie thriller that you probably shouldn't read in the dark.

I look forward to seeing your answers!  Be sure to link me to your Follow Friday posts so I can see.  :D

  1. Oh dear, would Buffy kill the Cullens? Just leave Edward and Renesmee out of this.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. New follower here!
Feel free to check out my blog... I've got a cute giveaway going on! : )
    Have a happy follow friday!

  3. My cat is the same way, and she dislikes being a book holder too. My bat isn't a full size one though. Its a mini souvenir one

  4. A bat? No...and even if I did, it would be covered by a mound of books. Do hardcovers count as weapons to beat monsters with? Cuz, I'm good if they do.

  5. I keep telling her that if she wants to sit on my lap, she's gotta prop up a book. No dice so far thought. Sigh!

  6. Amber (Books of Amber)October 14, 2011 at 11:45 AM

Aw, Chavez looks adorable! From what I can see of her anyway. Haha, I'm now coming up with a Buffy/Twilight/Supernatural/Vampire Academy/Vampire Diaries crossover. Buffy would fit right in with what you suggested - comparing "I totally died that one time" stories xD

New follower, your blog is awesome! Thanks for stopping by mine.

  7. Spooky and hilarious? Sounds like something I need to read.

  8. Faeries and Halloween sound like the coolest combination ever! Haha. Here's my post:

  9. My son is really into the whole zombie thing.. Have a great weekend!

  10. Well, you could THROW the hardcovers at the monsters, but wouldn't that hurt the books? We can't hurt the books! :D

  11. She is totally adorable, but she also has a very tiny head. Mean people call her 'Pinhead.' :D

I am loving this crossover SO MUCH. Has anyone on TVD died and come back? (I'm so behind on that show) They can all be sulking during the conversation: "yeah, well...OTHER THINGS ARE COOL TOO, GUYZ." And then Buffy pats Damon on his head because awww, pouty Damon.

  12. I seriously loved it! I think it's the first book I've graded 'A+' (which, you know, matters so much ;) ). I hope you get a chance to check it out!

  13. Also Shakespeare, acting, and hilarious 70s fashions! There's something for everyone!

  14. I am in love with your protection plan...go baseball bat! I feel like everyone's favorite reading spot is also the spot where they do everything else as well! Imagine all this territory in our own homes we are ignoring in favor of the favorite broken in spot! lol.

  15. Haha love Scooby gang plus buffy plus the cullens. That would certainly be interesting!!

    Great post, new follower:D

    My Post

  16. Happy Friday, just hopping by.

  17. Ah! What an awesome line-up!
If Buffy and the Cullen's got together, though, wouldn't it be like...mayhem?

Thanks for stopping by! And I'm now following you as well :D

  18. I would have loved to see a picture of your beach reading spot! But your bed looks comfortable. I'm a bed reader too! *high five*

  19. Hopping through for Feature & Follow Friday.

Stop by Pedantic Phooka for a $25 Amazon Giftcard giveaway this weekend.

    Have a great weekend!

  20. Twilight and and Buffy's gang would be very interesting.. If they didn't kill the Cullen's :P

    My FF,

  21. Susan (Bloggin' 'bout Books)October 14, 2011 at 5:13 PM

How is it that I've never even heard of your spooky books? I think I need to get on the ball, especially since Halloween's so close! Thanks for the recommendations.

Glad to have found you via the Hop!

  22. Old follower hopping through. :) Love the baseball bat. My dad actually has a real pirate sword that I like to keep close by... xD

Stop by Untouchable Treasure and enter to win great prizes in my two new giveaways! Here and here!

  23. I wish I lived close enough to a beach to read there! Alas, cold Canadian climates mean I usually read inside by the warmth of the fire (and with the cuddles of 3 dogs!). :-)

    New follower!

  24. Dog cuddles are the best of everything (except kitty cuddles)! I hear you about the coldness. I think we cold-weather dwellers appreciate summer and outside-reading times more than those farther south!

  25. Bed reading is the most comfy! *high fives back!* Except when you lay on your arm and it falls asleep...or maybe that's just me. :D

  26. Thank you for stopping by! I hope you like my spooky books if you check them out. Name of the Star just came out, and I'm seriously already considering rereading it.

  27. I figure if zombies come, I better be read! And AHAHA, you're so right. When a spot feels right, it just feels right! But we're like cats - always have to hang out in the perfect place.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I read and adore each one.
